Baselice

Baselice is a small town in the province of Benevento whose origins date back to year 1000 a.c. Located in the Fortore Valley it still bear witness from its ancient history. The two gates leading into the old village are still very well preserved, Porta da Piedi (Foot Gate) in roman style and Porta da Capo (Head gate) in a gothic style and the ancient Torre del Capitano (Tower of the Captain). There are several building with interesting details belonging to aristocratic families. In the Paleonthological Museum of Baselice you may admire an extraordinary collection of local fossils and minerals dating back to millions of years ago.
